Skullcandy Holua

$100.00 Released July, 2008

Product Shot 1 The Pros:High quality. Wood enhances the sound. Comes in a wooden carrying case.

The Cons:A little bit pricey. Let down by lightweight and tinny sound quality (especially in this price bracket) and lack of lower register. Poor build quality; on first day just changing the earbuds (there is no instructions for how to do this but I did it by holding the earpieces, not the wires). Now no output on right channel.

The Skullcandy Holua model is a very elegant and high-end earbud headphone set designed for users of all ages always on-the-go. The Holua includes a very unique wooden housing body design with laser cut aluminum accents.

According to Skullcandy the Holua ear-buds "are the only appropriate way to sport wood in public". The headphones are designed with an in-the-ear, ear-bud style that is encompassed in a comfort inducing foam ear-bud cover. The Holua headphone set is equipped with a pair of 8mm diameter small size driver units built to fit just inside the ear canal. The Skullcandy Holua headphone set also features a 1.3m cable, a 3.5mm gold plated stereo plug, a max input power of 200mW, and comes available in several different colors such as gold, white and silver (Gold is the only color that includes different color earbuds, silver and white only pertain to the color of the wire covering). Lack of proper instructions - inexcusable at this level (with a RRP of £69.99)

No wonder they are appearing at half price and below. Poor build quality couple with lousy sound and reliability.

Whilst the use of wood is novel, the aesthetics are let down by poor quality plastics and lousy build quality
