Sony MDR-E818LP

$9.00 Released June, 2008

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Designed to be bass heavy, making these a good choice for the bass enthusiast. Feel fairly comfortable to wear over longer periods of use. A big step up in audio quality over most stock ear buds.

The Cons:Don't sit very snugly in the ear--can be easily jarred loose. Only come with one set of foam ear covers. Very limited warranty coverage considering some headphones around this price point offer a lifetime warranty or at least the standard 1 year.

Marketed towards consumers as an alternative to their stock buds or basic headphones, the Sony MDR-E818LP is a low priced dynamically driven earbud. At $8.99, the Fontopia branded MDR-E818LP is driven by a 16mm driver, tweaked to be especially bassy.

Where to Buy

Available at many locations for merely half their MSRP, the MDR-E818LP are truly a bottom of the barrel option. It is important to know that it is very unlikely that any 9 dollar earbud will sound good. Sony's poor warranty may also be an issue, but at only 9 dollars, such a loss may not be as hard to bear as the $299 MDR-EX700LP.

Arrowana: #sony_mdr_e818lp For such a low price they are good. If you are currently using stock headphones that came with something else, these will usually be much better. Oct 10, 08
